Speaker: Rev. Patty Willis

Rev. Patty Willis: After two decades on the western coast of Japan, my partner and I moved to nine acres of Sonoran Desert at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains in southern Arizona only thirty minutes from the U.S./Mexican border. The complications of life on the border drew me to study for the ministry and in 2008 I entered Earlham School of Religion, a Quaker seminary in Richmond, Indiana. Contrary to my assumption that I was giving up storytelling to be a minister, I found that storytelling was at the heart of my ministry. From 2010, my theater work, Man from Magdalena, has funded over $150,000 in micro-loans to Central America and Mexico. In September of last year, my wife and I moved from Salt Lake City where I served a UU congregation for six years to Falls Church, Virginia. We love taking long walks with our dog Louie and studying the history of this part of the world.
