Unlike conservatives, many religious liberals are unaware that political activism rooted in spirituality is both legal and ethical. As a descriptor of religion, “liberal” means something entirely different from how it’s used on the political spectrum. And my childhood impression “prophetic” is totally inaccurate. This sermon explores ways we can explicitly use religious principles in public life to justify extending beloved community beyond the walls of the church.
